I have been working on a Communist-oriented project, called Communist History Society, for the past few weeks.
This project originated from a Facebook group I started years ago called Communist History, a group where members could share information about communist history.
Side note, what led me to create this group in the first place was visiting the Museum of Communism in Prague, Czechia, in 2017, the first museum I had ever been to that focused on communism. I was very impressed by this museum and realized I had learned so little in the United States about communism, so I wanted to draw more attention to this subject.
After a few years I decided to upgrade the Facebook group to an organization, so in March 2026 I changed the name to Communist History Society and created a website for the public to visit.
A primary task I have been working on since changing the name is creating an interactive map that showcases communist history locations throughout the world. These locations include museums, tours, memorial sites and more. I think learning about communism in a more social way, such as going to public places and meeting with people, leaves a lasting impression on individuals.
A long term goal I have is to develop communist history tours where people have an itinerary of locations to visit to gain a broader understanding of history under communism in certain regions. Currently the tours I am developing focus on the Baltic region, Central Europe and Eastern Europe.
You can learn more about Communist History Society by visiting this link. Be sure to go to the “Resources” page to view the interactive map I have created.
